Random Movie/Art thought
So totally random, well kinda. I was thinking about the animation expo thingy I went to yesterday, and how some of the shorts showed nudity. Specifically the last one we saw. Gods I wish I remembered the artists name. It was Sarah Something Something… I think??? anyways, the premise was it’s about maybe 2 minutes long if that. A woman is driving at night to hotel. it’s psuedo ominous and there’s an air of suspense that can be felt with each scene change. Finally she gets to the motel door after receiving a text saying “come alone”. Knock, Knock, Knock. SHHWIIING. Before her stood a towering demon, looking down on her, it pans back to her, the music intensifying, then we —SHARP CUT. They’re in the bed, she’s smoking a cig topless and the demon is blushing and curled on the bed next to her. It’s super cute and sweet, and she leans over and kisses them! But what got me thinking was, I think that scene hit just the right way, BECAUSE of the nudity.
Like I was thinking, why did that one stand out and hit me so much, then I realized how… human it was? Pure? Real? It wasn’t sexualized, but yet it was still intimate. It wasn’t the point, but yet it added everything it needed to. It went against the normal media depctions of nudity, rather it be glorified via Porn or demonized via Hollywood. It just showed it as… it. The scene looked REAL. She was sitting on the bed, cover over her lap, smiling with a cig. She wasn’t trying to cover herself or hide like we see in movies. She wasn’t just in the glory shot positions. And the Demon, well, the demon did a very typical masc thing that they secretly LOVE doing, and it’s being just gentle and sensitive and emotional after sex. It might not be seen or shown, but fuck have I seen way more boys in that almost fetal position head and emotions full after a wild time.
It kept that shit REAL! And it wans’t the only one to use nudity. But because each artist used it in the most natural REAL way… Gods that’s just how it should be! Like I get it, monsters exist in the world. But if we could just stop sexualizing everything, and demonizing everything….. fuck dude. Anyways yeah, I was playing Dark and Darker while debating on what is or isn’t italian food when this thought came into my head. And Hey, this/you exist! So I have someone to just get these thoughts out to know again haha.
